Read through page 177 answer questions: Due Friday

Hi 5th Graders!

This post will have lots of questions as we haven't had a lot of discussion about the book thus far! Please take time during guided reading to read and respond to each other's posts. I know that you are able to answer my questions, but the real discussion about the book comes in how you respond to each other's answers! Go back to old posts and re-read and post additional comments as you see fit! Good luck!

1. Do you think even the weirdest people seem normal if you put them in the right place? Explain!

2. What are your thoughts about Beatrice being identified as the stronger character and Hero being pretty fluff?

3. Do you think that Mrs. Roth knew Hero needed an "in" as an ice breaker before the start of school? Explain.

4. What advice would you give to Hero about fitting in at her new school and making new friends?

5. Begin a timeline of the important historical figures that are mentioned in the book. Where would they fit according to the dates? Include the following people - Elizabeth, Henry VIII, Ann Boleyn, and Edward deVere. Bonus points if you can add any additional names to the timeline!

6. Post two of your own open ended questions.

1.Yes,because if you put all of the wierdest people together, to them, they would all seem normal.

2.I think that those comparisons are pretty much accurate right now, but I also think that they will change a lot as the book goes on.

3.Yes, because I think it helped her be able to take her mind off things, if things wern't going to well.

4.I think that she should just laugh along with the dog jokes, and make more jokes about it, and I think that then the other kids will think she's funny.

    5.Elizabeth,Edward deVere,Henry VIII,
    Ann Boleyn(1532)

    6. 1.)Do you think that Hero and Danny will find the diamond? 2.)Who do you think the real Shakespere is,and why do you think that?

I think that Shakespere is the real Shakespere because nobody has conclusive evidence that would show that Edward deVere, or anybody else, wrote the plays under Shakespere's name.Plus, the real person that wrote the play wouldn' write them under someone else's name, because then they wouldn't get any credit for them, and everyone would think that someone else wrote them.

I also have some additional questions that came to me while I reread the assignment.Do you think that Mrs. Roth and Hero will become friends again after their Fight? And a question I had about their fight is who's fault do you think the fight really is?I mean, yes, Mrs. Roth didn't tell Hero that she had beeen married to Mr. Murphy, but then Hero didn' ask.I know she didn't, and never would just say, "Hey were you and Mr. Murphy ever married?" For no reason, but she could have asked, "Why do you call yourself "Mrs." Were you married at some point in your life?" That is a question that makes sense, and also a question that someone might ask.

1.) Yes! Like Hero's dad is really into Shakespear and some people may think that's wierd but, since he work at a place where a lot of people like Shakespear he fits in.

2.) I think that as the book goes on Hero will become more outgoing and Beatrice will mellow.

3.) Yes, I think Mrs. Roth wants to help her take her mind off of things and be more social.

4.) I think that Hero should try to talk more and be more social. She could also try to laugh when people tease her and pretend not to be hurt.

5.) Henry VIII (1491-1547) King of England and Lord of Ireland. He had 6 wives. 2 were beheaded, including Ann Boleyn.

Ann Boleyn (1505-1536)In 1533 she was crowned Queen of England. She was King Henry's second wife. She had one daughter, Elizabeth.

Edward de Vere (1550-1604) He was friends with Queen Elizabeth of England and wrote plays for her. Every year he got 1000 pounds allowence from her and he had a son. Some people think he's the real Shakespear because he was well educated.

I think when they talk about Elizabeth they can be talking about Ann Boleyn mother or daughter who were both named Elizabeth.

Where do you think the diamond is hidden? What are some reasons that Mrs. Roth's daughter ran away?

I think Mrs. roth and Hero will become friends again. There fight isn't very important and it's kind of silly.
